The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club played host to the North Island District Lawn Bowling Championships last week and saw some excellent competition from across Vancouver Island.
With clubs from Nanaimo, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Port Alberni, Courtenay and Powell River converging in Parksville, players qualified by playing and winning in their own their club singles tournaments earlier this summer.
Bob Milsom of Powell River won the men’s single title over Stephen Forrest of Port Alberni. Lynn Chwartacki of Qualicum Beach won the women’s single title, defeating Elaine Van Kooten of Port Alberni.
In the novice men’s single it was Jim Barr of Parksville defeating Roy Watts of Nanaimo. The novice women’s singles saw Fay St. Marie of Parksville beat out Angelika Valchar of Nanaimo.
