The host Parksville Ladies Pool League squad walked away with the team trophy in its own inter- branch pool tournament Sunday at Parksville Canadian Legion Branch 49.

The tournament commemorated the club’s 30th year and included teams from the Bowser and Qualicum Beach Legion branches.

Club founder Sondra Mawdsley, who started the ladies pool league in 1985, was on hand to award the trophy and help cut the 30th-anniversary cake.

Two other original club members, Margaret Whitford and Joan Hogeweide, are still playing and were part of the winning team in Sunday’s competition.

Whitford and Hogeweide were joined by Betty Slater, Anna Bambrough, Brenda Leslie, Joy May, Margaret Waterhouse and Chris MacPhail on the trophy-winning squad.

The Bowser team placed second, with Qualicum Beach placing third.
