Parksville curler Penny Shantz and her crew captured top spot at the 2022 Connect Hearing BC Masters Curling Championships.

The former Olympian’s rink that consisted of third Cindy Curtain of Penticton, Shirley Wong of Parksville Qualicum Beach and lead Janet Suter of Parksville topped the provincial competititon, held at New Westminster’s Royal city Curling Club from March 8 to March 13.

Shantz faced Team Janet Klebe in the final. Each team held the lead at different times and in the eight, Shantz pulled ahead by a point to win 6-5 and lift the crown.

The Parksville Curling Club president is now in Chilliwack along with her teammates who will be joining different teams at the 2022 BC Senior Curling Championhsips. Shantz will play third for skip Mary Anne Arsenault, and will be joined by Diane Gushulak and Grace MacInnes.
