PHOTOS: Hundreds of athletes participate in Vancouver Island Ironman event

Greater Victoria event attracted participants from all over the world

Athletes from all over the world descended upon Greater Victoria to take part in the 2024 Victoria Ironman 70.3 on Saturday, May 25.

The annual event saw participants swim 1.9 kilometres in Elk Lake, run 21.1 km around the lake from Hamsterly Beach Park, and bike 90 km around the entirety of the Saanich Peninsula.

Hundreds of athletes took part in the event, in groups created by age category.

It was one of two Ironman events taking place around the world last weekend.
