Pickleball clubs gearing up for busy season in Parksville Qualicum Beach

Regional district to host May tournament

Pickleball clubs in Parksville Qualicum Beach are gearing up for a busy season.

The Parksville Oceanside Pickleball Society will hold its annual general meeting on April 30, at the Qualicum Beach Legion Hall Branch 76. Registration opens at 10 a.m. and the meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. It is open to members only.

For those interested in joining the OPS, they can register at the meeting or at the box lacrosse courts when they open their season on May 2. For more information, visit the society’s website at https://oceansidepickleballsociety.com/

The Oceanside Pickleball Club has been busy preparing for its 2022 season of club play which starts on May 1. The club plays a the Parskville Community Park tennis courts Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The club offers members drills and skills session to hone players’ development and the more competitive members ladder play.

Meanwhile the Regional District of Nanaimo will stage its Annual Pickleball Tournament that will be held May 26-27. It will feature men, women and mixed doubles competitions. The tournament, which draws top pickleball players on Vancouver Island, will be held at Oceanside Place Arena. The RDN is also offering pickleball lessons for beginners. The lessons are held at Oceanside Place Arena and also at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.
