The Parksville Curling Club hosted the Senior Ladies Island Curling playdowns over the weekend (Jan. 17-18). The event saw five teams looking to capture one of the two spots available at the Senior Provincial Championships in Comox Feb. 17–23.

Team Shantz, representing the Parksville Curling Club, beat out teams Ridgway and Jones–Walker (both Nanaimo Curling Club) to capture one of the two qualifying berths.

Team Jones–Walker had a second chance to advance as they took on Team Witt (Nanaimo). Team Witt ended up taking the second berth to the championships with a 10–9 win over Jones–Walker in a back and forth game.

Moving on to the championships are Team Shantz and Team Witt.
