Evan Dyce scored twice, leading the Save-On-Foods Oceanside Generals to a 5-3 win over the Westshore Wolves in Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League action Wednesday at the Q Centre.
It was the second consecutive win for the Generals, who play back-to-back home games at Oceanside Place against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings on Friday, Sept. 16 and Saturday, Sept. 17 in a rematch with Westshore. Both games start at 7:15 p.m.
The Generals got off to a flying start against the Wolves as they scored two early goals, from Nolan Kehoe and Miles Carson. But the Wolves stormed back with two late goals to end the period tied at 2-2.
In the second period, Generals regained their two-goal lead when Dyce scored a power-play goal at 1:45 and followed it up with another marker at 13:38. Aidan Cook made it 5-2 at the 15:53 mark. The Generals took a penalty late in the game and paid for it as the Wolves scored to cut their lead to just two points.

The third period was a scoreless affair with the Generals’ special teams units killing three power-plays to preserve the 5-3 win.
Goalkeeper Ashton Sadauskas earned his second win between the pipes, turning away 24 of the 27 shots he faced.
ICE CHIPS: Dyce was named the Generals player of the game … Co-captain Carter Johnson did not suit up as he was serving a two-game suspension for infractions he committed in the season opener against Port Alberni Bombers … Generals signed a new forward, Dante Paziuk, a 2004-born forward from Nanaimo. He played for the U18 North Island Silvertips where he notched 16 goals and 19 assists in 36 games … The Generals are looking for volunteers during game day to help film the game for HockeyTV and also a DJ to play the music during the breaks.
