The Yellowjackets savour their silver medal finish in Ladysmith on Sunday.

Oceanside’s U13 boys capped off their soccer season in exciting fashion on the turf fields in Ladysmith last weekend and bagged a silver medal for their efforts.

In action at the seven-team youth soccer year-end tournament, Oceanside’s Yellowjackets blasted Nanaimo #2 5-2 in their opener, and followed that up with a hard-fought 3-2 shoot-out win over Nanaimo #3.

That win earned them a berth in the final against the Nanaimo Miners.

The Miners and Yellowjackets both finished the regular season at 9-2-1 — the Miners were awarded first based on goals for and against.

Oceanside assistant coach Brian Elliott was duly pleased when The News caught up with him Monday.

“It was a fabulous season with the boys just continuing to grow, developing their skills all year long. A really good group of guys,” said Elliott, who helped out head coach Mike Carter this season.

“We battled it out all the way through and did amazing, throughout the whole season, and the tournament.”
