When Andy Lankester and Mike Harris bought Parksville Qualicum Self Storage from Budget Self Storage two years, they’ve been looking for ways to better serve their clientele.
They are introducing a couple of major additions.
The partners, who also own Harris Oceanside Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd., found an ideal venture when they recently signed on to become a U-Haul neighbourhood dealer.
The Parksville Qualicum Self Storage, located at 1480 Industrial Way Unit 7, will now offer U-Haul trucks, moving supplies, boxes and in-store pick-up for boxes.
“We currently stock cargo vans and are going to have five-ton trucks available soon for rent,” said Lankester. “This will enhance our product offering to our customers so they can move in or out by conveniently renting them from us.”

Parksville Qualicum Self Storage said Lankester is currently in high demand as most of its 367 units are rented out and that vacancies are low, running at around five per cent.
“We try to be the lowest-priced self storage provider in town,” said Lankester.
This year they are expanding the business as they will soon be offering 3.5 acres of boat and RV storage to the facility.
“This annex is located behind Tim Hortons beside the dealership with the entrance off of Stanford,” said Lankester, who added that it is close to getting ready.
“We will have it fully fenced, lighted, alarmed and have camera surveillance to keep our RV and boat customers feeling like their toys are well kept. We think this location is the best in town as it is close to French Creek and Schooner Cove.”
Normal business hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday.
