The Seaside Cruizers Car Club will not hold its annual Father’s Day Show ‘N Shine in the Town of Qualicum Beach this coming June due to COVID-19.

Club president Kevin Varey said it’s regrettable that they had to cancel the popular car show, which was in its 27th year. Their decision was based on B.C. health guidelines. The car show was slated to take place June 19-21.

“We cannot risk being an event where COVID-19 has an opportunity to spread within our community as we are sure, you would all agree,” said Varey in a press release. “The travel and human exchange involved in putting on a car weekend the size and scope of the Father’s Day weekend makes it impossible for us to carry on for this year. It’s simply too risky for all of us.”

The Seaside Cruizers are a non-profit organization operated by members. Vrey said there is a substantial outlay of cash that happens well before the Father’s Day Weekend in order to plan an event of its size and scope.

The club is now looking forward to holding the event in 2021.
