The Craig Bay neighbourhood in Parksville raised an amazing $64,860 for the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department’s Fill the Boots for Food campaign.
Craig Bay residents held a seven-week drive to collect groceries and cash, which were presented to the PVFD and Major Sergii Kachanov of the Salvation Army the morning of Nov. 19, according to Penny Rutherford, Craig Bay Fall Food Drive Committee.
“This year, we helped fill the shelves at the Food Bank with 2,000 pounds of groceries, personal hygiene products and pet food,” Rutherford said.
Craig Bay residents have donated $229,104 and 19,868 pounds of grocery items over the last nine years.
