The Mount Arrowsmith Salvation Army thrift store in Parksville has a new look.
A grand reopening of the store was held on May 1. The store located on 192 Island Highway West looks brighter, cleaner, and better organized to help patrons easily find what they’re looking for.
“It’s a total redesign of the floor plan,” said Bonnie Brown, Sally Ann’s business manager. “What we’ve done is created an open, bright, shopper friendly, spacious environment.”
Some of changes Brown pointed out include changing the lights to brighten up the place, polishing of the floor to make room for more furniture displays, moving miscellaneous items shelves, relocating all the clothing to the front of the store and put it all by size.
The store now also features a small book nook where all the novels and stuff are not situated just adjacent to the CDs, videos and games section and also a section for shoes.
Brown also said that they’ve also introduced some new sales structure.
“We used to have 50 per cent off on the last Friday of the month and now we have rotating schedules every week,” Brown explained. “Every week there will be something 50 per cent off and some 30 per cent off. So you need to come in everyday to make sure you get the discount because the next day it would be gone.”
Brown said they will also be improving their back room next where they sort out all the items and donations that they receive.
