The 14th Annual Dashwood Volunteer Fire Department head shaving event was a tremendous success.
Organizer Harvey Twidale said the event was blessed with sunny skies that brightened up the spirits of many and helped them raise just over $4,560, which boosted their grand total to more than $53,000.
More than that, Twidale said, they had their largest attendance ever, with three Tour de Rock participants stopping in for burgers and to say a few words.

They will ride across the Island later this year for the same cause. The car wash, barbecue, and a “Golden Girl” act added to the fun.
All the money raised goes to the Canadian Cancer Society. Dashwood fire department will continue to collect donations until May 15, which they expect will increase their total to close to $5500.
Donations can be dropped off at the hall on Hobbs Road, mailed there, or made online through a link on their Facebook page.
