A few years ago, Mark Nagra was driving into work at M&N Mattress and Sofa Gallery when he heard a radio announcer mention a 12 days of Christmas giveaway.
He thought, “We should do something like that as well,” and so launched the Parksville’s store’s annual 12 Days of Mattress Giveaways event.
“Since starting, we’ve partnered with SOS (Society of Organized Services) and they’ve helped us find 12 people in the community that has supported our family run business for decades, for those who need these mattresses the most,” Mark says.
“We also provide 12 brand new mattress protectors and pillows to essentially give recipients the full set-up. Every opportunity like this is important to us – we like to give back to our community as often as we can.”
This giving, community-first philosophy further inspired M&N Mattress’s current $3,000 giveaway that runs until Jan. 31, with winners expected to be announced Feb. 15.
“We saw what a success our holiday giveaway was and thought, ‘Why stop at Christmas? We might as well start the New Year off on the right foot, too !’” Mark says.
Their $3,000 giveaway offers multiple ways to enter with a $1,000 queen size mattress giveaway to residents of District 69(Nanoose, Parksville, Qualicum and area). If you know someone who is in need of a new mattress in District 69, nominate them via email at giveaway@parksvillemattress.com or in person at the store. There’s also a Facebook giveaway for a $1,000 gift certificate valid on any sofa or mattress. In addition, look for a $500 gift certificate giveaway on their Instagram channel and a separate $500 gift certificate giveaway in store.
“We’re excited to kick off the New Year in a positive way by giving back to our community,” Mark says. “These giveaways coincide with our end of year clear-out sale as well, so even if you don’t win, you’ll still find some amazing deals in store!”
Mark and his team have one more good reason to be excited for the New Year, as they have been voted as a finalist for the 2023 Retail Business of the Year. “As a finalist, we eagerly await the Vancouver Island 2023 Business Examiner Awards Gala on Feb 1st,2024, as a finalist where all winners will be announced.”
After finishing as a finalist in 2018, they took home first place in 2019 – a win they hope to repeat this year!
