Twelve candidates for Qualicum Beach mayor and council were on hand to share their ideas for the town’s future at an all-candidates forum on Sept. 27.
The forum, sponsored by the Eaglecrest Residents Association and hosted by Michael Garland, was held at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.
Mayoral candidates Brian Wiese and Teunis Westbroek, plus council candidates Stanley Beech, Robert Filmer, Scott Harrison, Peter Kent, Doreen Mackay-Dunn, John C. Phillips, Anne Skipsey, Petronella Vander Valk, Dave Willie and Jean Young were in attendance.

An all-candidates forum, hosted by the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre (747 Jones St.). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce all-candidates meeting is set for Oct. 4 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Winchelsea Place (140 Renz Rd.). Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Qualicum Beach Residents Association hosted an all-candidates forum on Sept. 25 and Parksville candidates met at Knox United Church on Sept. 26.
General Voting Day for the local government elections is Oct. 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Parksville, Qualicum Beach and the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) have all provided advance vote opportunities on Oct. 5 and Oct. 12.
