Two volunteer fire departments in the Regional District of Nanaimo electoral areas will see their respective protection area boundaries expand.
Property owners outside the Bow Horn Bay Volunteer Fire Department and Dashwood Volunteer Fire Department’s areas of coverage have requested that they be placed under their fire protection services.
On Marshland Road in the Spider Lake area of Electoral Areas H and F, there are three property owners who want fire protection to be provided by Bow Horn Bay Fire Department.
The boundary expansion request was presented at the RDN committee of the whole meeting and it was moved that Bylaw No. 1385.09, 2018 be introduced to the board, read three times and forward to the Inspector of Municipalities.
A developer of Timberlake Road properties also made a request to the regional district to have fire protection supplied by the Dashwood Volunteer Fire Department. There are seven properties on Timberlake Road that made the petition.
The RDN committee of the whole agreed to recommend to the board that Bylaw No. 964.06, 2018” be introduced and read three times.
Once the expansion proposals are approved, the respective expansion areas will be taxed for the additonal service to be rendered by the Bow Horn and Dashwood fire departments.
