Parksville council has approved $2,500 in grant-in-aid funds to three community organizations.

Parksville and District Historical Society was approved for $1,500, with Oceanside Community Makerspace Society and Ravensong Aquatic Club approved for $500 each.

A select committee, comprised of Coun. Al Greir, Coun. Doug O’Brien and the city’s manager of administrative services, reviewed, discussed and approved the funding, according to a report by O’Brien during council’s Oct. 3 regular meeting.

The funds will be allocated from the city’s 2022 Grants-in-Aid budget, which is split into spring and fall intakes.

Arrowsmith Fine Arts and The Wonderful World of Books applied for funding, but were not approved.

Under the provisions of the city’s Grant-in-Aid Application policy, the city may provide direct financial assistance to community groups and organizations for events and projects that will benefit the citizens and visitors of the municipality.

Council passed a resolution, during its Sept. 7 regular meeting, to appoint the grant-in-aid select committee.
