A collision involving two vehicles disrupted traffic for almost an hour along the Alberni Highway Thursday morning (April 30).
Oceanside RCMP, Errington Volunteer Fire Department and BC Ambulance were called to the attend a vehicular accident at Exit 51 and Highway 4 near Parksville at approximately 7:20 a.m.
Two vehicles ended up in a ditch and sustained significant damage. Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman, a vehicle driven by a 50-year-old woman from Comox was northbound and headed off Exit 51. However, police say she ran through a stop sign at the Exit 51 intersection and the vehicle collided with another driven by a 22-year-old man from Parksville. Both cars ended up in a ditch.
Errington Volunteer Fire Department chief Troy Bater said that were called to help the drivers out of their vehicles and directed traffic for close to an hour.
Police report charges are being considered against the 50-year-old driver for failing to stop at a stop sign.
