Three Ballenas Whalers linemen will get the opportunity to play at BC Place when they suit up for the 2021 BC Subway Bowl Senior Varsity All-Star Game on Saturday (Dec. 4).

Enzo Agostini, who earned the Most Valuable Player honour on defence in the AA Coastal Conference, earned another accolade when he was named to the 2021 B.C. High School Football AA All-Star team, along with fellow Whalers Will Dubesky and Jonah Anderson.

The Grade 12 Whaler standouts will see action in the Coastal AA All-Star East versus West game.

“This is an awesome opportunity for our guys,” said coach Jeremy Conn. “I am very excited for them as they are going to be coached by university and junior coaches, so it will really help them out to get even more recognition that will open some doors for playing football after high school. They all deserve this opportunity.

“For us to have four guys attending is a great reflection of our program as we have as many kids going as any other program in B.C.. We are very proud of them and for me personally I am so excited as I have been working with these guys for years and we have sat down and talked about taking steps like this in their goal setting. I can’t wait to see how they do on Saturday.”

Agostini will be on the defensive line for Team East. The six-foot-six offensive/defensive lineman had a remarkable season. In the 10 games that he played, Agostini had a total of 46 tackles, 12 sacks, seven fumble recoveries and one touchdown.

The six-foot-two Anderson will be in the defensive line in Team West. Anderson also played defence and offence for the Whalers and finished the season with 32 tackles, eight sacks and one fumble recovery.

Whalers quarterback and tight end Ryker Sansbury will also see action this weekend as an all-star. He will be one of the quarterbacks of Team East.

In the 10 games he played, he completed 40 passes out of 96 attempts for 539 yards. He also carried the ball 58 times for 414 yards and had seven touchdowns.
