The Cascadian Bristle Bashers defeated their hosts the Express Custom Bulls Hitters 21-12 at the Qualicum Legion on Dec. 12 to highlight weekly District 69 Darts League play. Leading the Bashers in the win were Terry Strawson and Richard Rempel, who both went undefeated by winning all of their five matches. Noella Ross went 4-for-5.

Top scorer was Richard Rempel with 140 x 2, 100 x 3, and a 107 checkout. Tedd Ducker shot a 140, 120 and 100 in one game alone, plus another couple of 100s to put him near the top of the scores for the night. Angie Kienas led the wins for the Bulls Hitters with three wins in five games. She also had top score of 119 and 100 x 2.

The Toolshed Triples lived up to their name as they could only muster three wins against the Short Sighted Crew, who ended up with the points in their matchup.

After winning two of the three doubles matches, the Triples’ Doug White beating the Crew’s Anne O’Sullivan was the only other Toolshed win for the night. Five of the Short Sighted Crew went 5-for-5 and high scorer was Peter Bisiker with 140 and 100 x2, and John Eyre with 131, 125 and 122.

With Captain Shirley Ewert back at the oche, the Straight Arrows bested the British Bobbie Warriors 21-12.

After weeks of injury recovery, Ewert was back in top form, winning five of six matches played. Top scorer for the Arrows was Mike McNulty with 138 and Don McIlhargey with 125. Leading the Warriors for wins was Kelly Kovacs who doubled out four of six games with a high score of 118. Ron Hession shot 100 x 2 and won three of his games.

Another week of “just wiring the doubles” by the Allwood Finishers let the Legion Shooters shoot ahead of them in the standings.

The Shooters usurped the Finishers’ longstanding spot in second place, with Lloyd Ausland and Lorraine Hopps leading the 20 accumulated wins by finishing five of six matches each.

Rounding out the team’s wins with three apiece were Pat Bannister, Tom Ford and Viviane Papineau. Larry Fuller found the doubles in four of five matches with a high score of 134. High scorers for the Finishers were Fish Trouton and Harry Van Heerwaarden with 140 each.
