Oceanside Generals split Vancover Island Junior Hockey League matches

Gens beat Kraken but fall to Glacier Kings

The Quality Foods Oceanside Generals split their weekend Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League games.

The Generals hosted the Lake Cowichan Kraken on Saturday, Dec. 11. It was a tough outing for the Generals as they had to claw their way back to win 5-4 in overtime.

Nolan Kehoe scored the Generals lone goal in the first period. Brett Arnett led a comeback in the third with a goal in the first five minutes but the Kraken scored again to make it 4-2 just past the midway mark.

The Generals bounced back with Miles Carson scoring twice to tie it up. Carter Johnson found the back net in overtime to win the game for the Generals.

On Sunday, Dec. 12, the Generals visited Comox Valley to take on the third-place team in the North Division, the Glacier Kings. The host team scored three goals in the first period and never gave up the lead to earn a 5-3 win despite the Generals outshooting the Glacier Kings 37-24. Carter Johnson scored twice for the Generals with Parker Kippenstein netting a goal.

ICE CHIPS: The Generals will host Peninsula Panthers at Oceanside Place on Dec. 18. … They were scheduled to face the league leading Campbell River Storm on Dec. 19 but it was postponed.
