The Parksville and District Chamber of Commerce will hold the popular Summer by the Sea Street Market at the Parksville Visitor Centre.

It will again be held every Tuesday, starting June 22 until the end of August from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Executive director Kim Burden said they are not able to hold the market on Craig Street due to COVID-19 restrictions on public gathering.

“We can’t control the number of people coming to the market,” said Burden.

This year, there will again be 30 vendors featured every Tuesday at the Parksville Visitor Centre at 1275 East Island Highway. It will feature an eclectic mix of local merchants artisans, craftspeople, farmers, entertainers and food trucks.

“We just want to keep the concept alive more than anything else,” said Burden. “This will give vendors an opportunity to sell their goods. These are businesses that haven’t been able to run their business the way they would like to.”

COVID-19 protocols will be strictly enforced. There will be handwashing stations as well as signs to give visitors directions.

“We asking people to be respectful when they come in terms of observing the various protocols, handwashing, masks that sort of thing,” said Burden.

He hopes next year they will be able to move back to Craig Street.
