The 100 Men of Oceanside played the role of Santa Claus recently.

The group, at its Dec. 12 quarterly meeting, awarded $10,000 to the Nanoose Community Services Society (NCSS), a 100 per cent volunteer-led non-profit charity established to help improve the quality of life for all residents in Nanoose Bay through a myriad of programs, services and emergency funding.

The donation will enable NCSS to continue its work in assisting residents of Nanoose Bay who struggle with food insecurity and personal issues affecting the quality of their lives in the community.

The $10,000 cheque was presented during the meeting to NCSS food program co-ordinator Cait McDonald and communications co-ordinator Julia Howe.

The 100 Men of Oceanside group meets quarterly and its members commit to contribute $100 individually at each meeting to support an eligible charitable group in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area.

Members’ individual donations of $100 quarterly ($400 per year) are issued federal tax receipts by the recipient organization and 100 per cent of donations goes to the selected charities.
