The Parksville Curling Club will host a Women’s Open Bonspiel from Jan. 12 to Jan. 14.
The competitive event, called Rockin’ It Like a Queen, will feature 24 teams, with half coming from Victoria, Mill Bay, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Qualicum Beach and New Westminster.
The bonspiel starts off Friday afternoon on Jan. 12 and the next day, there will be curling all day with the finals set for Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
The event is one of many activities that the club has lined up for the month of January. It will also be holding a Learn to Curl clinic on Jan. 21 for those want to try out the sport.

No registration is necessary. You can drop in between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parksville Curling Club located at the Parksville Community Beach Park.
It is open to ages 10 and up and no experience is required. All equipment will be provided. All you need to do is show up but are advised to wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move your body as well as sturdy running or walking shoes.
Participants will learn the basics of the game and will get a chance to play with each other. If you are unable to curl the traditional way of sliding delivery, adaptive techniques and equipment will also be offered.
