Two members of the Oceanside Running Club Association are dedicating their next two races to raise funds for The Coldest Night of the Year.

Mary Beil and Kate Flint have formed the ‘Gimme Shelter’ team who are joining thousands of Canadians walking and running to raise funds to support and serve people and families experiencing homelessness, hurt and hunger in the community.

Both avid runners will enter two races for a total of 29.12 kilometres. The first race is the Harriet Pioneer 8K in North Saanich on Feb. 27 and the second will be the Comox Valley RV Half Marathon in Courtenay on March 13.

“The funds stay in our community to help reduce homelessness,” said Beil on the ORCA’s Facebook page.
